About Nemesis

Nemesis’s mission is to combat desertification and soil degradation in the Mediterranean by advancing soil health through a network of interconnected, community-driven Living Labs. The project focuses on co-designing and scaling locally adapted, data-informed solutions that integrate science, policy, and stakeholder knowledge to restore degraded land, strengthen soil stewardship, and support resilient agroecosystems, in alignment with the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe.” Nemesis will develop and implement a multi-level Living Lab ecosystem across diverse Mediterranean regions, evolving into a virtual, data-rich platform that integrates soil health indicators, digital tools, and participatory approaches. Through co-creation with local communities, policymakers, and land managers, the project aims to transform pilot sites into “Lighthouses” showcasing scalable solutions for sustainable land management. By fostering knowledge exchange, policy innovation, and capacity building, NEMESIS seeks to enable evidence-based decision-making, enhance ecosystem resilience, and contribute to long-term soil restoration across the region and beyond.
