Region of Basilicata

The Basilicata Region is a public regional authority located in Southern Italy, responsible for planning and implementing policies across a wide range of sectors including agriculture, forestry, land management, and environmental protection. Through its Department of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, the Region supports sustainable rural development and climate resilience, fostering innovation in land use and ecosystem conservation. With direct experience in European-funded projects, it plays a key role in integrating policy frameworks with local stakeholder needs. The Region’s strong territorial knowledge, combined with its technical and administrative capacity, makes it a key actor for implementing pilot actions and engaging communities. Its involvement in LANDSHIFT ensures that strategies and tools developed within the project are well-aligned with local and regional priorities, promoting policy uptake and long-term sustainability.

Role in LandShift

The Basilicata Region contributes to multiple Work Packages of the LANDSHIFT project, with a key role in stakeholder engagement, local communication, and policy integration. While not directly involved in scientific modelling or AI-based data analysis, the Region plays a central role in the implementation and coordination of the Italian Living Space, actively supporting WP1 (stakeholder engagement), WP2 (strategic planning), WP4 (nature-based solutions) and WP6 (communication and dissemination). Thanks to its strong institutional presence and territorial knowledge, it acts as a facilitator between local communities, policymakers, researchers, and land users. The Region supports participatory governance, helps mobilize relevant actors, and ensures that the project activities are grounded in real regional dynamics. Its involvement guarantees the alignment of LANDSHIFT outcomes with existing policy frameworks and their long-term sustainability at the regional level.
