HSG’s relevance to LandShift stems from its ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and societal needs, ensuring that the project outcomes are not only environmentally effective but also socially acceptable and inclusive. By embedding social science insights into LandShift, HSG supports the development of governance models that are participatory, equitable, and responsive to the needs of diverse stakeholders.

Role in LandShift

The University of St. Gallen (HSG), through its School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS-HSG), plays a central role in the LandShift project as a key Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) partner. It brings interdisciplinary expertise in socio-economic impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, sustainable governance strategies, and gender equality promotion. HSG leads efforts in management education, training, and outreach activities, ensuring inclusive and equitable participation across project components. Its contributions are essential to fostering socially sustainable and inclusive governance models within LandShift. By integrating SSH perspectives, HSG enhances the project’s capacity to address complex socio-environmental challenges through informed, participatory approaches.

HSG pparticipates in all WPs and leads:

  • Task 3.7: LULUCF* socio-economic impact and strategy evaluation
  • Task 6.5: Transferring knowledge and co-designing training activities and materials
